In a story that ran on page 1 in Thursday’s edition about Sixth District Congressman John Tierney’s reaction to the bailout of American International Group, Tierney was inaccurately portrayed and quoted as criticizing a colleague, Bay State Congressman Barney Frank, Chairman of the Financial Services Committee.

In the interview, Tierney was referring to private sector and Wall Street culture, not Frank and his committee, when he referred to a disconnect. Tierney was discussing the danger private industry mind-sets have on the public’s money.
“I don’t get how that disconnect happens,” Tierney said. “ They get into that view and have a different sense of reality. We are going to pass this and have reality kick in on this.”

The headline, which said Tierney criticized colleagues was also inaccurate. Tierney said Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd was in the wrong and should hot have participated in changing provisions of the bailout bill for AIG, but otherwise did not comment on other legislators on Capitol Hill.
