In advance of a hearing to examine the effectiveness of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in light of its 50th anniversary, Ranking Member Maxine Waters (D-CA), will lead a group of Financial Services Committee Members on a tour of the N Street Village – a homeless service provider for low-income and homeless women in Washington, D.C. – to highlight the critical need for investment in programs that support our nation’s most vulnerable populations, and the many ways these programs lead to more vibrant communities.
N Street Village provides homeless and low-income women with comprehensive services, as well as affordable rental housing for low- and moderate-income individuals and families.
The tour will provide Members of Congress with the opportunity to see first-hand how federal housing programs work, and provide unique and important perspectives required to fully understand the challenges American communities face in ending homelessness.
There will be a formal media availability after the tour at approximately 9:00 a.m.
